Munich, Germany — Lufthansa plans to introduce its first Airbus A350-1000 on the Tokyo/Haneda route on 3 December 2026, opening a new stage in the airline’s long-haul fleet renewal.
The aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Munich from Toulouse in mid-November before preparations for passenger service. Named Deutschland and registered D-AIFA, it carries Lufthansa’s navy-and-white centenary livery with a sweeping crane design.
For passengers, the introduction is also a cabin story. The aircraft will feature Allegris, with 49 Business Class seats and 35 in Premium Economy, alongside First Class suites and 212 Economy seats. Lufthansa is positioning the new type as a premium flagship at its Munich hub.
Shanghai and Singapore are due to follow Tokyo in the weeks after the debut. Lufthansa says the A350-1000 and A350-900 will alternate on the services, so the announcement does not mean every departure will use the larger variant.
The Lufthansa Group has ordered 15 A350-1000s for delivery by 2030. The first ten are intended for Lufthansa and will be based in Munich. The announced delivery and route dates remain plans; the first scheduled Tokyo passenger flight has not yet taken place.
