Reader information

Privacy & data

You can read STAFFNEWS24 without creating an account. This page explains the information used to operate the publication.

Updated 10 October 2026.

Who is responsible

STAFFNEWS24 is published by TLA PUBLISHING / TLA PRODUKSJONER LARSSEN, organisation number 912 530 647, Bodø, Norway. The publisher is responsible for the personal information described here. Use our contact form or publisher contact details for privacy questions and requests.

Messages to the publisher

When you send our contact form, we store your message, its topic, any article link, the time of submission and the name and email address you choose to include. Name and email are optional. Messages are held in a private editorial inbox so the publisher can handle enquiries and corrections. Submitting a message does not subscribe you to marketing.

The inbox does not automatically delete messages after a fixed period. The publisher can review and delete them; you may request deletion through the contact page. Some records may need to be retained to document a correction, resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation. Please do not include sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry.

Readership statistics

We use first-party, aggregate counts to understand which articles are read and how readers reach the site. These record the public page path, date, referring website hostname and broad device category. They do not record your search terms, full referring address, email address or a persistent visitor identifier. These counts measure pageviews, not unique people.

Aggregate statistics are retained for 90 calendar days. Requests with Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control enabled are excluded from this collection, as are recognised automated requests. Short-lived derived network-address records limit repeated submissions; raw network addresses are not stored in the readership statistics.

Preferences on your device

Your display theme and saved-story choices are stored locally in your browser. They remain on that device until changed or cleared. You can remove saved stories individually or clear the site's browser storage. These preferences are not an advertising profile.

Security and hosting

Our hosting infrastructure, including DigitalOcean, processes network and request information needed to deliver pages and protect the service. The contact form uses temporary abuse-prevention records, which expire after two days and are removed during subsequent form processing. Readership rate-limit records expire separately. Access to the private inbox and editorial tools requires authentication; signing in to those tools uses essential session information.

Advertising and external services

This version of the site does not load Google AdSense or other third-party advertising tags. Before such services are activated, this notice and the relevant consent controls will be updated to identify the providers, their data use and your choices. Links to external sources or the publisher's separate website take you to services with their own privacy practices.

Why we process information

We process reader enquiries and essential security information for our legitimate interests in answering readers, correcting our reporting and operating a secure publication (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Where you ask us to arrange an advertising agreement, processing necessary to respond to that request may instead relate to steps before a contract (Article 6(1)(b)). Information needed to comply with a specific legal obligation is processed on that basis (Article 6(1)(c)). We do not use reader messages for automated decisions about you.

Service providers and international processing

DigitalOcean supplies our hosting infrastructure and may use service providers outside the EEA. Its data-processing agreement describes the international transfer safeguards and subprocessors. Contact the publisher for information about safeguards relevant to your information. Editorial access is restricted; messages are not published automatically. Private recovery backups may also contain messages and operational records.

Your choices and rights

Contact the publisher to ask about information you have provided, or to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or to object to processing where applicable. Include enough context to identify your request without sending unnecessary sensitive documents. You may also raise a concern with Norway's Data Protection Authority or your relevant local authority.
