Lufthansa plans to restore nonstop flights between Frankfurt and Nagoya next summer, bringing a direct link back to one of Japan's major industrial regions. The seasonal service is scheduled to begin on 29 March 2027 and operate three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, the airline said on 6 October.

The group also plans a daily Frankfurt–Tokyo Narita flight from 28 March 2027. That will add a second Tokyo airport to Lufthansa's existing daily Frankfurt–Haneda service. Both newly announced routes are scheduled to use Boeing 787-9 aircraft with Allegris cabins. Lufthansa lists 28 Business Class, 28 Premium Economy and 231 Economy seats in the configuration planned for these flights.

For travellers and airport teams, the Nagoya return adds a direct Europe connection at Chubu Centrair instead of relying solely on a transfer through another Japanese gateway. The Narita flight expands the number of Tokyo options, while the different airports and departure times will matter when passengers compare onward connections. These are announced schedules for 2027; neither new service has started.

Across Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and ITA Airways, the group says it plans up to 50 weekly flights to four Japanese destinations in summer 2027: Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, Osaka and Nagoya. SWISS separately plans up to seven weekly Zurich–Narita flights. Lufthansa says the new flights are available for booking, although schedules and aircraft assignments can change before departure.
