Maastricht, Netherlands — EUROCONTROL says total delay attributable to its Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) more than halved during May–September 2026 compared with summer 2025.

The centre handled 842,259 flights, broadly level with a year earlier. It reported that 98.4% experienced no MUAC-attributable delay. This measures the centre’s contribution to delay, rather than overall airline arrival punctuality.

July was the busiest month for MUAC, with 174,056 flights, and 10 September was the busiest day, at 5,619. Among flights experiencing MUAC-attributable delay, the operator says the vast majority were delayed by less than 15 minutes.

A cross-border operation

MUAC controls upper airspace from 24,500 feet over Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and north-west Germany. Its 15 October report credits traffic planning, coordination with the network manager, workforce planning and generally favourable weather.

The operator’s figures describe one part of the European network. They do not establish the same improvement across airports, airlines or all European airspace.
