Quito, Ecuador — Emirates SkyCargo says its Ecuador export cargo grew 14% year on year in the first half of its 2026/27 financial year, in an update published on 8 October.
The carrier added a sixth weekly Quito freighter flight in May, taking available export capacity to 600 tonnes a week.
Flowers dominate the traffic
Flowers account for more than 90% of Emirates’ export cargo from Ecuador. The airline carried nearly 24,000 tonnes of Ecuadorian flowers during its 2025/26 financial year.
Quito freighters connect to Amsterdam, giving exporters access to a major flower auction and distribution centre. The link places the cargo operation within a supply chain connecting growers with overseas buyers.
Growth and capacity are different measures
The 14% increase covers the carrier’s total Ecuador export cargo, rather than flower shipments alone or all national exports. Weekly capacity measures available space, not actual shipments.
The update describes results following the May expansion; it does not establish how much growth the additional flight caused.
